Offshore Sat. Jan 3

Made it out to 90ft and as soon as we dropped baits the action began. It was basically non-stop all day. The water was flat calm and vis was at least 40ft. Water temp was 62 degrees. We caught over 200 fish; several varieties except the illusive grouper. We kept 2 large flounders, 50 BSB, 14 snapper; mainly silver a few vamillion,4 porgies, a large grunt. We caught several reef sharks 3 to 4 ft. The fog was awful coming back in after dark. Glad we made it back safely, it is amazing to be 100ft away from a cargo ship and not see it and the Norwegian Cruse boat.
Great fishing crew Tommy the shark snatcher, BG, Brent, Woody, and Daniel who tried to help me locate my lost anchor.

Gregg thank you very much again for another great day of fishing!!! Your a great captain and a great fisherman!! Thanks for getting the crew in last night that was crazy!! Keep in touch and give me a call when your wanting to get out again!! Oh I think I got a job finally so that’s good!!! Thanks again!!!

Yeah that was pretty nuts hearing the horn from the cruise ship but not seeing it. As we were waiting north of the shipping channel we eventually saw an eery dim mass of lights probably 200-300 feet away that we knew was the Norweigan Majesty as it passed by. The port pilot was definately on top of his game that night directing all that traffic. I could hear you guys up ahead of me…I thought you would have made it back in before then…must have been good diving at the 60.

Thanks again for your help that day. We eventually made it back in cruising at 8 knots the whole way. We got stopped by the Coast Guard in the harbor as they were searching for a disoriented small vessel without GPS. We didn’t make it back to the landing until after 10:00. That fog was crazy.

Gregg,

Good to see you back in the water doing what you do best. Hope you and the family had a good holiday. I have been busy killing a few wall hangers. Cant wait to settle back down in the saddle and fight some big fish. Plan to get back with you guys this season to drag some more bait. Good job on your recent trip. Jimmy

Take a kid fishing!

It was another great trip on the ProKat. The last portion of the return was hairy in the fog, but thank God for an able captain.
The fishing was good all day, but a first for me was the 20" flounder on the butterfly jig!

Sorry I couldn’t go Greg, sounds like yall had a good time except for the fog. The next time I go out with you I’m going to try out that underwater camera I got so we can post some cool pics.

Just wanted to say thanks to greg for getting us back to Remley’s in one piece without being run over by large ships/harbor pilots… lol I would definatly chip in to go back off shore and do some diving/fishing again. The ride was great, the weather was good (except the morning fog and the evening fog incident) The boat roomy and a great dry ride. Thanks for the trip hopefully you will allow me to go again.

I promise I’m not being a smart aleck like some might intend to be, guys, but just making a safety/insurance-minded suggestion. I think those foggy days make one appreciate radar. You didn’t say whether you had one or not, but if you don’t, then get one if you can. It’s well worth it. You will paint those ships from miles away. Things could easily go bad really quickly in the fog with ships around. I know the feeling you had in that fog–scary (as it should be). It’s very nice to have those blips on the screen in such conditions.

BTW, NICE flounder!

the only blips i like to see are the channel markers, everything else scares the crap out of me in the fog…especially when the blip turns towards you…[:0]

I hear you on that. Me too, but I’d rather see those blips and avoid them than run completely blind.
