Offshore this weekend

Doesn’t look good at all to me, not in a 21’ boat. I’d stay on the hill, or inshore.

Seen a commercial boat unload 20 boxes of mahi out of MI today on the 45050 line offshore of the hole may stretch it out tomorrow

Well boys I appreciate the discussion. Trolling or bottom fishing there will be an update

Good luck tomorrow guys. Looks like a beating to me. We passed until another day on a 31 Contender. Doable, yes. Comfortable, NO. Being in a 21 footer could get dangerous. The only person I would trust to take me to the ledge in a 21 foot boat would be Cracker Larry (see previous post). I would have a plan B.

Thanks for the confidence. But I ain’t going tomorrow. I’m sure I could, but I’m also sure I wouldn’t have much fun doing it  Been there, done that :face_with_head_bandage:I think I’ll work in the yard tomorrow.

Good luck to all who go. Be safe. Leaving shortly.

It got ugly quick, 18knot wind and growing is no joke

Change of plans, like going back to bed. Not the day the man called for two days ago. I like to see my clients happy and reasonably comfortable, not wet, sea sick, and begging to go back in. That doesn’t make for a repeat customer.

Since the ledge looks sketchy… Anyone’s thoughts on the nearshore or 60?

You seem determined to beat your brains out. Go for it

Cracker Larry = Pro Tip. Buy a case of beer, swing by his house and listen to some of his sea stories. Much safer, minus the salt in your eyes, you will totally enjoy yourself, and you may even learn something.

Salty you were smart to stay inshore. Since we are talking weather is reefcast acting up or am I having a technology fail?

Should have listened to Larry…it was like a washing machine out there. Made it to the near shore reef and after a couple hours we limped back in at hull speed and I saw 3 other boats doing the same thing. I really thought it was going to be better from looking at reefcast, but seeing as how it went down yesterday and hasn’t been back up since I should have taken that as a sign.

I’ve been doing this for 50 years

IMO, when somebody feels the need to ask an Internet forum if they should go fishing or not, the answer is probably not. When he gets multiple answers from people with a lot of experience saying no, and charter boat captains cancelling trips, then it would be a real good idea to listen to them. Otherwise, why bother to ask
