It’s mahi season and we all know how it goes, multiple hookups, acrobatic fish, fish eating the left short then eating the left long. Fish jumping over lines and fish running under other fish creates tangles, but not irreversible tangles. When the time comes to decide if you need to over -under -over -under- under- over to free the tangle, just pause. The fish are behind the boat a ways crossed up, it happens. There is a simple solution to untangling the lines by simply bringing the affected rod-tips together. This will place that dilemma of a knot/crossover right in your face by the rod tips which will allow you to see which action you need to take with each rod. It’s much simpler this way than when the crossover spot is 60 feet behind the boat and you can’t tell which line is over or under which. Try it it works.
Great tip! Thank you!

Very Nice. Thanks
Any man that doesn’t know how to catch a fish, shouldn’t disgrace a fish, by catching it.
good tip…well played
There’s lots more catch-rate improving tips to come if people are interested. I am not looking to force feed people tips, just trying to help some of the newer guys out to the sport and maybe I can learn something new also. This offshore sport needs more brotherhood both on the water, at the docks, and on the web.

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

I find using different color lines help also. Fluorescent yellow, cammo, red all stand out against a blue background and are easily visible.
With hi-vis lines remember to try to keep just the leader in the water, run longer leaders on Hi-vis set-ups. Bear in mind if you can see it from the back of the boat, the fish can see it at the bite.
