Offshore Trolling 10-17

Left the dock at five and ran out of edisto for what seemed to be the longest ride in my life both ways. Ran towards the edisto banks and stopped nine miles shy on the ledge. Thought it was going to be a killer day. Was putting the short rigger out and the long rigger popped out and the wtfb started screaming. Pulled the hook on the long rigger fish about five minutes in and put a nice blackfin in the boat on the wtfb. Got lines back in and trolled about to about the 250’s before circling back to the ledge, picked up a king (first fish on the new sniper setup) Followed by 2 gaff and release cudas on which i though was finally my wahoo, never had a cuda fight like that before. Trolled a weed line in 170ft and zig zagged the ledge , picked up to small dolphin and lost a few other fish with a few more knock downs. Never saw anything big. Went bottom bumping about twelve and found some triggers and porgies and bliners. Triggers were the only thing that made it to the boat whole. Dropped a bliner on the bent butt planer/deep drop rod. Hooked up immediately about a seventy pound amberjack, biggest one ive ever seen until the next drop. A brute that was every bit of a hundred and had a circle hook in his mouth from his last victim. Put the high speed baits out and ran them in all the way to the 120’s with no success. Pretty nice day on the water. Beats working anyday.

Yeh ona mission cleared the last buoy as we came through the marina. I talked to him on the radio, last i heard he started at the EB and trolled all the way around the 226 not much happening, he said he had one bonita. Im from greenville so i just trailer it down. It really sucks that way, im gonna try to find a place to keep it in charleston next year.

Good report and good job. I heard from some others who were like us, and never got anything going.
