Offshore with Daddy on the Andi Pi - lots of pics

The weekend started out with a bang! Third floor AC unit decided to have problems, so I had to have that fixed before all my company arrived - took not one AC repair company, but two to finally get the upstairs cooled…

Lynn McDowell so graciously offered to head out with us hoodlums as Jack and I had no idea how the day would go with just the two of us rigging and running baits as Daddy and Mark had never been offshore before. Lynn has an OPEN INVITATION on the Andi Pi, by the way! Hats off to Andy here as, without this site, I’d never have had the pleasure to meet Lynn, let alone fish with him on a most special day.

Although it was a slow day trolling out there, I can tell you that bull that Daddy pulled in was the daymaker catch of my life! And, in my excitement that day on the radio and leaving messages for my buddies about the bull, I probably did say he weighed 35 pounds. But, in all reality, he may have only weighed in the mid 20’s - had a big ole fat head, but a pretty skinny body. He’ll sure taste good when Momma and Daddy enjoy those filets with all the fresh veggies from their garden. Lynn sure did an outstanding job cleaning our catch on Saturday - I don’t think he was too terribly upset that we didn’t wind up with 40 phins as it was hot as the dickens when we pulled back into the docks. Daddy said Lynn “surgically fileted” the fish!
Here are some pics. This day was, without a doubt, one of the most happiest days of my life! I spent the day with my most favorite person in the whole wide world doing what I absolutely love most - sport fishing with Daddy!

We did use that secret planer rig, but it didn’t produce for us this trip like it did a few trips back. Those planers just kick my butt! Yep, it was gorgeous out there. If you could ever say it was “too calm,” I think it was on Saturday.

Well, all I can say is WOW!! It wasn’t the best “catching” day, but I had such a great time! It was a pleasure meeting Andi, her father, Jack and Mark! We had a no stress, relaxing day on the A Pi!!

This is the internet, so we can say that the big bull weighed at least 63 1/4 lbs., right?!? It’s all good…

That phin Andi’s dad caught was a nice fish, and her dad did a super job on the reel!

As far as the cleaning of the fish goes, I’m no pro, but I do not like to spend all the time and money to go offshore just to waste meat! (just like most fisherpeople:smiley:) The heat while cleaning was not near as bad as those pesky deer flies.

I am sure that I will take you up on that invitation, Andi and Jack! (if y’all will have me)

Now, in that first pic of me holding that “blue cola”, it had to be the wind that has my shirt pushed out and me looking 11 months pregnant! [:0]

Andi really liked the beads that I add to my lures. She liked them so much, that she had a “Mardi Gras” moment. [:0][:I] That’s all I will say about that.
You thought that I would forget, huh?? lol

Yes, Lynn, I’d hoped you’d forget about the “wardrobe malfunction…” [:I]

Note the clothing change in the pics - it surely wasn’t that I’d planned on changing into clean clothes just for pictures, bu

You could have let the interweb readers wonder a bit longer.

Now, if someone wouldn’t have forgot the chicken, who knows how the day would have went(as far as fish)?!?! ha ha

Thanks Paul, but as on any boat, it’s all a team effort! They did everything, I was just there having a great time also! Next time we’ll catch a little more, but if not, we’ll still have a grand time!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Man that water was flat out there. Nice bull.

Who is the guy that was brave enough to wear two shirts in 100 heat and no wind? Wow I’m sweating just thinking about it.

I’m so glad you guys had a wonderful day out there. Lots of fish, a few fish, it doesn’t really matter. You guys sound like you had a blast and made a few memories on the side. Nothing like being out on the open blue on a day like that. Great going all.

Oh, BTW, nice smile there Lynn!!

Nice report Andi!!!..well worth waiting for…but dont make us wait so long next time ok??? I knew you would like Lynn…nice guy huh?!! As far as the fish weight goes…it doesnt matter…and neither does the fish count…what matters is that you got to fish with a bunch of folks you like…and esp. your dad…those memories will last forever.
Water was beautiful out there…glad it was calm seas for you! Now…as for your little show…Lynn is right…you should have let them wonder a little longer  lol Was hot as Haiti out there today…and smell like crab bait…my report in inshore later…got to shower and cook for now!! Again…congrats girl…oh and Lynn…thanks for going fishing with my friend

I love the pic of your dad chillin’ up top! :sunglasses: I think he had a ball the whole day! :slightly_smiling_face:

We still need to do something about that very first pic!
From the looks of the man in the back of the boat, you should charge him double or triple next time!!:wink:
I think the camera added way more than 10 lbs… [:I]

Looks like ya’ll had a great time!! Way to go! We ended up um,um, well, you know! What a flat day out there looks like! Was hopin to try out a new supersecretdoublespatula lure that just rigged up, but oh well, another day!

I find I actually stay cooler with two shirts just like that on, one white cotton shirt and a long sleeve spf50 fishing shirt for sun protection. Cotton shirt seems to evaporate sweat and water fast under fishing shirt and keep one a little cooler.
