quote:Great job on the restoration and a tip of the hat for making the donation!
Thanks, but let me clarify the donation part. I wasn’t the donator. I was paid fairly for my work by a benefactor who had owned the boat since new. He asked me if I could restore it to new condition and how much. I told him yes sir, I can, but I could duplicate it for less. He said restore it, and I said yes sir I didn’t know he was going to put it in a museum and show it at the county fairs until after I was through with it. Sort of glad that I didn’t, I’d probably still be sanding and fairing:smiley:

Racer Evans was my Uncle, one of my mom’s brothers. You dd a great job of restoring the boat. People came from other states to buy one of his boats. In your comment you said “I could build this boat from scratch for less cost and effort than trying to rebuild it from what it was, but that wasn’t in the game plan”. Like I said, you did an awesome job, but your boat would not be the same as a Racer Evans boat, you don’t have his “Indian touch, Indian know how” He built everything using ordinary tools, no power tools, sanders, etc. He just had the ability, love to build such a pc of art as his boats and building those boats was his pride and passion. I have an awesome picture of him building one of his boats.
Thanks for all of your efforts, great job.
