Watched that video a couple times and that would have been a kill shot. That had to be as bad as getting a doormat Founder to the boat only to have it break off. Or something like that.
That even made my stomach hurt for him. You don’t usually see (or I haven’t) a buck look up in the trees like that.
I forgot to thank you OTC for posting the video…need a good yuk these days.
And Fred…you right. Bucks seldom look up
That hunter moved or made an unfamiliar noise. I’ve grunted at them before and they seldom look up.
Sounded like a crossbow too.
That wasn’t nice. Probably didn’t turn his ringer off on the phone. Them old bucks are pretty smart, or at least they are until they get cooter on there mind.
23 was messing with ya. I have had plenty look up at me.
I have missed due to them ducking the shot, when I should have aimed lower. The further away, the worse, as it gives them more time before the arrow arrives.
When shooting pretty much straight down, with what seems to be a crossbow, or any modern compound, no worries with the ducking. Just hit a limb.
I’ve never stuck one dead center of limb, but have had a couple glance off.
Didn’t know you were a bow hunter, I give a hat’s off to all bow hunters. That’s a sport all on it’s own. If I’m hunting close I will have a shotgun. I cant hit crap with a bow, maybe a crossbow with a nice scope? Helped search this weekend for a deer unsuccessfully after a through and through shot with the tip bent and meat chunks on it, blood trail ran out around 150 yards and my trailing Shepard passed away. Still haven’t seen buzzards, who knows. Deer are a tough animal.
I will give credit for the variety of tips for an arrow, there are some super wicked ones out there. I still believe my favorite was/is the Turkey guillotine. You tube it if you don’t know what it is. Crazy cool, head rolling stuff.
The Indians that once shot the bows they made were the true archers.
We have advanced so far, it’s crazy. 80 or more percent let off on a a compound bow, as the arrows fly so flat out to 40ish yards with those carbon arrows. Credit to the recurve guys tho.
And the crossbows are even faster. a lot have scopes on em.
Checking up on the rules in Ga, as I’m about to get back to it. Used to call it primitive hunting season while using bows, or muzzleloader. lol
I cleaned a deer that had arrowhead in leg. And one with three legs that buddy of mine tried to kill running with a rifle. Healed completely over. They are tough for sure.
