(**(), I ran out of shrimp today! I need this season to hurry up and get here!!!
luckily; i still have about 25 of those 5cup containers in the freezer. i could probably let two or three of them go for a piece of property on lake murray or maybe a new silverado. is that asking too much? ha ha. seriously though; i hate to hear that you ran out. if not for us getting 50#lbs from mr rut at carolina seafood we would be out also. i am with you on ready for the season. son and i were discussing today about the hopes of a good year. good luck and full nets.
Fished Paradise Island way up the Wando a few days ago and there were a bazillion baby shrimp jumping out out of the water. I’m still going into the season with low expectations. I really thought last year was going to rock, and it didn’t.
Saw some decent juvenile shrimp activity at Bushy Park yesterday. Were too big to be common glass shrimp. But I’m with Occams Raiser here, I’m pessimistic about this season.
Although, one would expect that all the rain we had would wash nutrients into the water that would feed into the shrimp’s food web.

Our yearly trek will be in October again this year. One can only hope. Last year was dismal at best.

We have 8 qt bags left (yes we bought a box at the end of the year too), and just over 6 weeks left…Maybe we’ll make it…
We eat em like candy. Been out for months now and refuse to buy any. This HAS to be a good year. We’re due.

Been out for a few months now. If this season is anything like last season, I’ll be buying mine. Let’s hope not.

Well, I suppose there is something to be said for the low expectations theory. I went into the 2008 Clemson football season with high expectations, and the rest is history. Drubbed by Alabama, 7-6 record, and 4-4 in the ACC. But faithfuls, there are always positives: we beat USC and we got rid of Tommy.
Since that hellish drive back from Atlanta in 2008, I have expected Clemson to win only 6 or 7 games a year. Based on my low expectations, I have felt somewhat content every year. However, there is a side to me that would trade all the wins just to beat the Gamecocks again.
So remember as you hitch the boat and make your final preparations for Friday, September 13th. Is it really about the number of shrimp you catch? Nope, it is about the small victories that are had each trip you make regardless of the final season tally. Happy Shrimping everyone…
The good Lord smiles upon me, my wife, and the dog each and every morning we put the boat in to go shrimping. I don’t believe there is another activity we do that makes us any happier than coming down to the coast and dropping in our crab pots, tossing the shrimp net, and collecting a few bushels of oysters.Happy shrimping to ALL!!!

I’ve just got a few quarts of mostly smalls left, (but I did by some larges last year) they will be gone in the next few weeks. Was out on Versaboard in Ralston Creek today and lots of shrimp, from tiny to a few mediums. I have low expectations for the season, but excited to see this many small shrimp, hopefully they will not be grown enough to move out to the harbor until mid September at least…
