I have a 2002, 90 HP JOHNSON four cycle. I removed the lower unit to replace the water pump, Now I have oil leaking from what appers to be from the bottom of the oil pan.Since the drive shaft and shift shaft go through the oil pan should have drained the crankcase oil before removing the lower unit??? Can’t find anything in the service manual that address that issue,Thanks
you do not have to drain oil to change waterpump
if the engine is tilted all the way up, and the engine oil level is at teh top of the full marks on the dipstick, some oil can leak out.
trim the motor back down, and the leak should stop.
The oil seems to be come from the clutch rod seal in the bottom of the oil pan,had no issues until I removed the lower unit???
over night the crankcase had drained empty. I have more than leak.
