Okuma Diezel Spinning Reel

Are these good reels for the inshore species? Anyone have them and like them?

had one and after a month of fishing the reel locked up. took it back to the store and tried another and that reel also locked up. I was at haddrell’s and Steve showed me the shimano’s reels for under 20 bucks and they hold up pretty good. I hope what I said was helpful.

If you are looking for a cheap reel that works, I have had very good success with the Okuma Avengers. I have been fishing 2 for almost 3 years now and the only one I am having trouble with is the one that went for a swim. For a little more $, the Okuma Trio is really nice.

A cheap good reel is my shimano siennas 30$ and going on strong after hardcore fishing for a year

had a sienna for over 3 years before it burnt out on me and i used it a ton in the surf and beat the crap out of it. was sad when it kicked the bucket

“mr keys”

Yeah I have been also looking at the Trio’s but cant find anywhere that they have a combo for it

While looking at all the respectable options listed above take a look at the PENN Pursuit. Parts for these reels are always in stock in Philadelphia PA. http://www.pennreels.com/products/reels/spinning-reels/pursuit

You won’t find Trio combo anywhere. There are so many good pairing options for a low weight spinning reel, so take your pick of a rod that feels good in your hand.

I put mine on St Croix Avids and Okuma Reflexions rods.

I have a few Okuma Avengers i keep on hand and they are a bargain and have held up nice. I only paid about $20 each for them in a bargain bin. I also have a newer Trio that seems very well made. I mostly use the Penn Battles for inshore but if you don’t want to spend around $100 each you can’t go wrong with the Okumas. Just rinse them good to get the salt off and oil and grease them every so often and they will take care of you.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.
