Was just wondering if anyone has fished these reels for stripers and if so what do you think of them?

i haven’t, but i know there are several on the midlands striper club that do/have. the line counter feature is especially nice for summer linesiders.
One of my buddies from Pittsburgh bought two to use when he came hear last year. They were good, but I can’t say how they hold up.
I have several of the Okuma Epixor spinning reels and these are a great buy. I have used mine in saltwater and fresh and they have held up perfect
Sea Pro 210cc
Yamaha 200 4 Stroke
Dodge 1500 4x4 HEMI
I have had the same experience as tprice. Okuma is just one of those companies who for many years made reels for some of the top companys in the world. Finally they decided they should go in for themseleves. I picked up four at Lake World after hearing Richard Hall talk about them. I’ve had them maybe 3-4 years. Fished Murray and a small amount of salt water with them. They have held up as well as anything else and I’m hard on my tackle so I normally just get Penn and Ugly Sticks. Hope that helps. God Bless, Brian
Is it any wonder Jesus choose Fisherman for his disciples?
Thanks for the info guys, I have allways fished the ambassadours but after buying a 6000 last year I will never buy another. It was complete crap. The clicker tore up first fish! The $60-$90 Abu’s are not in comparison with the earlier models. The drag on my 25yr old Abu is smoother than the new one.
quote:did you buy it at wally world, by chance? driving down prices also drives down quality as they hammer their suppliers to the point of cutting corners to keep the buisiness. don't buy blister-pack reels. pro tip.

Good point… I did look at the “Record” series reel at BPS they looked and felt like the older ones besides a few changes. The old reels when you picked them up they just felt like you couldnt tear them up…
I’ve had outstanding reliability from my 55/6500 C3 Ambassadeurs. I bought a 6500CS Pro Rocket a while back and it’s the schnizzle - it’s got he old style flat side plates with new style anti-reverse and bearings. Avoid the plastic spools - a real weak piece, especially with super braids. I’ve checked the Records and they seem to be a good reel. Sorry I can’t help on the Okuma question ‘cause I’ve stuck with Abu for a lot of years. I hope whatever reel you choose has a screamin’ drag ASAP.
