Buddy down the street has a 1960 Clipper runabout. Wants to bring it back to life with new paint and all that jazz. Talking about redoing the topside but said something about doing it with a bumpy texture. Anybody know about this procedure?

I used Kiwi Grip on a Jon boat, easy to put down and you can make it aggressively bumpy or less so.
Kiwi Grip is my top choice also.

Kiwi Grip for sure. Easy to use with great results. Got a quart of white left over from a job I finished the other day. Not sure how much you will need but let me know. It has never been opened and I have the textured rollers for application.

It is a single part water based product. Available in white, light gray, cream and blue. I wouldn’t paint over it, but I have tinted it with latex based paint tints.

It holds up great. It’s been on my boat about 6 years now, still good as new.
No problem putting it over awlgrip. Just give it a light sanding for some tooth and clean it good. You can apply it over paint, primer or bare fiberglass.

No problem. A couple of tips.
The roller is very aggressive and causes a lot of splatter to surrounding areas, so mask or paper everything around it real good, and wear a hat 
Splatters will wipe off with water if you do it before it dries, but once it’s dry it will require a grinder to remove it.
It sets up fast in warm weather. Unlike most paints, with the KG you need to pull the masking tape immediately after application, while it is still wet, or it will tear the edges.
With some imagination and some skill with masking tape you can make all kinds of designs and patterns 
Just pull the tape while it is still wet.

I didn’t do that one myself, a good friend of mine in Curacao did. It is natural white, no tint. He’s really doing a great job. It’s a custom Carolina 25.
When I use a tint, I go to Lowes or Sherwin Williams and get tint for exterior latex house paint. They have it in their bulk dispensers. I bring my own container and they usually will give me a couple of pumps for free. A little goes a long way! An ounce or so will easily tint a gallon.
