Good day,

I was wondering if anyone would have some old equipment that would be willing to part with. I would like to find a 5-8 w, 9’+ rod and a simple reel for saltwater. Maybe something that you just don’t use anymore kind of thing. Thanks in advance from a very new novice.

I grabbed a fly rod from a local pawn shop some years back. Priced at $35. Gave him $25. We were BOTH happy with the deal.

Fished it strong for a good few years. The tip broke. The company sent me a replacement rod and included the sales slip from the fly shop where they hunted down the equivalent replacement rod. I’ll let you have it for the sales slip value $550.00. It’s been a few years so, the equivalent cost went up but, I’m not greedy.

I am kidding about being willing to sell that replacement rod. I stuck it in the closet and don’t use it. I liked the old fly rod but, have moved on.

My point? Pawn shops, garage sales, friends, friends of friends, etc… Just keep asking and grab any fly rod that you can afford. The value of the fly rod won’t come from the sales slip. It will come from what you do with the rod (whatever it costs).

Good point. I am like everyone else, wanting to see that little red bow a stick while knee deep in the mud. :slight_smile: Thanks for the input.
