Just got the motor [50hp Merc.] out of the shop. the carbs were stopped up, and the needles were stuck they said it was due to old fuel. I use non-ethanol fuel and stablizer [Sta-Bil]. I was told that if the fuel was left in for more than 30 days it would break down. Would Sea Foam be a better additive? What would happen if I put SeaFoam in the tank that already has Sta-Bil?
I just read an ad for Valvtect in a magazine and one of their claims is,
Contains the industry’s most effective fuel stabilizer that helps prevent oxidation and destabilization to improve the storage life of E10 or non-ethanol gasoline when sitting at the dock, on a trailer or when in storage for up to a year or more.

I have been using Startron for the last 3 years in my 2-stroke and my 4-stroke with out any issues. 4-stroke sat at the dock for 4 months with no problems.
keep the tank close to empty when sitting up, dilute with fresh gas when you are going to uses it. Use a fuel stabilizer in every tank
Boat US recomends full with fuel stabilizer to minimize condensation.
