old mckee

Ran across an old 14’ mckee today that had 2area’s in the floor that looked like they were supposed to have some kind of cover on them. They weren’t deep enough to keep anything in. Anybody know what year this might be.

I have one, thats where they ran the fuel lines from the passengers side console[tank], down the center[cover] to the engine.

I’ve got a 14 in the classifieds right now($2800 ready to fish http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/classDetail.asp?id=12099). There is a link to the photo bucket album that shows the restoration of it. there are some pictures of the inside of the hull so you can see the center cover my boat has. My boat is a 77, it had a long cover that went down the middle, I’ve seen some that had two covers on each side of the middle, but I don’t know if they were older or newer. I doubt you will be able to find the factory covers, but it shouldn’t be too hard to make replacements out of plywood and fiberglass.

Thanks guy’s, this one has a a piece of diamond plate cut to cover the center strip but nothing for the sides. They definately had some kind of cover that sat down in the top bo no more than an inch or 2 at the deepest point. Guy has a center console that was mounted but looking at the screw hole pattern it didn’t leave much room to get around it.

I have a 79 14’ Mckee the guy i got it from cut a hole in the rear deck to mount a bildge pump go figure! Foam was soaked I had to flip the boat and cut holes in the hull to drain it took about 5 months and about 15 gallons of water later foam was dry as it was going to get. I refoamed the hole glassed it over and away she went. i converted her to a tiller and love the boat perfect for the creeks and for the kids.
