We ran out to SWB yesterday, and were met by a flat calm sea. We trolled the ledge for an hour, had a strike on a little speedy, and pulled the hook. We went back in to the ledge to bottomfish, marked a great spike in 170’ and set up to anchor. Somebody on the boat (not me or Cowie) is on the bow to anchor. I say drop the hook, and mighty mite, 15’ of heavy chain, and rope go over…The same unmentioned person, had just shackled our 200’ piece to a 600’…As the rope played out, I see the end of one section go over, with nothing attached…DDD, he shackled one end of the 600’ piece to the other!!!. We tried for over an hour to snag the rope, with no luck. Ended up drifting over good bottom, and loading up on triggers, Jumbo B-liners, A limit of Big pinks, A very unremarkable trip to say the least, with a costly mistake…I think it was time for a new Mighty Mite anyway, that one was all bent up.Got some great video of porpises on the bow on the way in. If you are running towards SWB, look out for the lumber in 100’, it is scattered all over.

That sucks about the anchor (and the rope and chain). I just got a Mighty Mite and used it for the first time yesterday. They definitely work like they’re supposed to but are quite expensive.

Ah…It’s not that hard…We were fishing on the boat “On The Mark”…I stated that it was neither Cowie or I that lost the hook…that only leaves one…? Anyone that knows who I fish with can put this 2 piece jigsaw puzzle together…DDD

Chris, did you get your fuel issue worker out? Check and see if you hooked the fuel lines up wrong:smiley:.

The Mighty Mite must be a great anchor. I never go offshore without two anchors. Not being a smarta$$, but sells must have great confidence in it. I will get one soon.
