Took the boat out on the rebuilt trailer for the first time in 6 weeks. Fished Bushy and the Cooper most of Sat and some of Sunday only to catch one dink spottail Sat, while my friend caught 2 dinks Sunday. Fished hard in several places for 2 or 3 songs per place, we just never found em! Heard from a few guys who had real good luck Sat. It just wasn’t our turn to catch em! Still beats working on the trailer or boat, that’s for sure! Water temps were from 58 to 62 and did see a few jumps from some bait fish too! I probably find em next trip!

Fished Sat and caught a bunch of trout. Fished the same spot Tues and Wed at similar tide and only caught a couple so kind of hit or miss. For whatever reason, I’ve had better luck with the trout on artificials than live shrimp or mud minnows - and this is in areas where I know the live bait is getting deep enough too. With the reds it’s been the opposite. I’ve fished a couple places where I know the reds are and have had a much tougher time getting them to hit plastics than live bait.
Good update. It helps my sanity when I’m not on the water.
I plan all my boat maintenance and home repairs this time of year.
It’s also when I buy enough brownie points to cover the rest of the year.
This year I converted the dining room into a master closet and built all the shelving. Closet is finally done.
Wife is happily organizing her shoes.
Goal is to be on the water 2-3 times a week from April through Feb.
I went yesterday a little south of Chucktown but same type areas. Water temp was 63.8 to 65. Water was really nasty on the outgoing with the pollen and all. Caught two reds and 7 trout. All but one came on artificials. Trout Eye jig heads with Deadly Dudley green with blue tails and ZMan Jerk Shrimpz in FRIED chicken type colors. Fish wouldn’t touch a live shrimp. I did see a good bit of bait starting to stir around after the water got out of the grass. Fish did not bite until the fog cleared and we starting seeing sunshine.
