opening weekend

Who is going?

Is it going to be crazy out there or should I give it a shot?

Not me. Right now, planning on bringing the family down Saturday for a “family day” on the water since we didn’t make it down once this Summer. Do a little crabbing, maybe kill a mud minnow or two. I’ll watch the reports and see how folks did. Hoping for a better season than last. Good luck to those that venture out and stay safe.

I will be going Saturday. Haven’t made up my mind where with the 15 to 20kt winds they are calling for.

No offense intended, but I have never shrimped charleston. Heard to many stories. I shrimp the ace basin and Hilton Head. Don’t have to much of a problem with people except the occasional dumb #!*.

Man those 15 to 20 knot winds could make things dicey in the shrimping grounds near the ocean. BTW, I’m ready for some ladyshrimpkilla posts!

X2 ^^^^ Miss the shrimpkilla posts!

Wishing it wasn’t a NE wind this weekend. Bugs always burrow down on me with a NE.

I am a relatively new shrimper, getting ready to try Bulls Bay this weekend. Went last year, so I am a little familiar with BB. However, I have never been when it is real windy and I see that the forecast is for 15-20 KT with gusts of 25 KT. Is shrimping even doable in that kind of wind? Advice is greatly appreciated.

Anything over 15 from NE in the bay is challenging!

Not me!

Bulls Bay will be ripping Saturday. Remember, don’t throw into the wind!

Shrimp love the daytime chop. Muddies the water for them.

I’ll be out on the harbor Sat night, Agree winds may make it a challenging opening weekend. Will see what is like and decide where we will set up.

15-20K wind with gust on big water means a cancelled trip for me. I try and make 15K wind the max. I like to enjoy my shrimping trips. Twice I have gone with 15-20k with gust when it was suppose to lay down at sunset.(I wanted to go real bad!! and draggonmouse talked me into it!) One time it did - one time it didn’t. 15-20K with gust sux. If you are in a CC of size and one pole you could still go but, won’t be any fun. In a skiff or jon boat you better have a good bilge pump and know how to deck dance! Anyhow - Once you get to 20K the wind blows the front side of you net down and what would have been a pancake ends up a taco!:imp:
