was getting ready to go buy a couple of poles, when my buddy mentioned to me that he had a couple too many and wanted to get rid of two,
…brand new never used berkley glow stix, 8’ I think he paid like 30 for them on sale at SW. i could get them both for 40 . i remember looking at them before and i think the action on them is light, while the ugly striper stix are medium light. has anyone used these glow stix. good or bad idea???
I like a light rod for down rods, they would probably be good…

I prefer a light rod as well, but it is personal preference.
I think when using a light down rod, there is less resistance and the fish will get a better bite on the bait before the drag starts screaming!!

I use the Ugly stick striper, but, beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder

I mostly use med light ugly sticks now, but use some lighter rods sometimes too. The light action rods are nice fishing down rods when the boat is rocking pretty good. I’ve always feel like the bait does better because the rod tip gives more as the boat rocks as opposed to jerking the bait up and down with a stiffer rod.

I agree! A stiff rod while live baiting in rough waters is not good…

a stiff rod is a always good. you never know where your next rod holder may show up.
