Hello everyone, I have a HDS 8 last couple times out if you went to structure scan all I get is “no source”. I’ve traced wires and checked connections and I can’t find nothing. I’m considering adding The I pilot link to my trolling motor and from what I’ve read the I pilot works best with Humminbird. My question is does anyone run a humminbird and how does it compare to Lowrance. As a side note all the guides I know on Clarks Hill run Lowrance. Thanks
HDS Touch gen 2 or 3 paired with MG Xi5 TM. Best IMO.

Have the Humminbird 899 with iPilot Link and have had no issue whatsoever after a few early issues fixed under warranty(micro remote and bad GPS head unit pre Link install)
For link you have to have a Lakemaster card and obviously a compatible humminbird unit and the iPilot Link head.
Lot’s of folks use Lowrance because that’s all they’ve ever used.
I also fish for stripers a little differently than most folks on here.
Ford vs Chevy imho.

Your issue is prob in your beige (with yellow ends) network cable. I had the same issue awhile back…I would change out the cable with a new one. It’s a bad design inside the cable from what I have heard. It’s a solid cable on the inside and not stranded, therefore it does not like to be coiled or bent sharply, it will break on the inside even though it looks fine on the outside.
This is most likely the prob IF your network box "power light) is on. If the line is not lit up then it’s the power cable running from the network box.
By the way I prefer Lowrance, have used both, and been on boats with both. I just feel more comfortable with what I am seeing with lowrance. Now if you can afford the onix system, that may be hard to decide from lowrance or the onix. But the 3D side scan of lowrance is unreal as well.

Exactly. Hard to learn a different “system” in one weekend or trip.
My waypoints are another reason I stick with HB. Transfer would be difficult…I assume.
