Opinions on small Kicker Motors?

Is that a good idea? I been thinking about one, for the increased reliability/safety.
Anybody have one, hpw do they work out? Used to see them all the time.

I would go with the new Yammy 300 for a good Kicker on your boat.

31’ Fountain twin 100 hp Honda’s.

Great idea, I think; what size and type boat?

A kicker is only as good as the upkeep applied to it!

Mac, Steamboat, Chris,
agree on the maintenance aspect - - I was thinking a 9.8hp on a 21 ft CC. Coates went a little heavy there, but his girlfriend is beautiful, but don’t take her out on the full moon!

T9.9 yamaha is the best kicker for a 21ft. It is a high thrust lower unit and prop designed to be a kicker motor.

From reds to marlin you got it.

I have been wondering about the kicker motors as well. Also, are most of them tiller handle control? I assume so but have seen a couple rigged with a steering wheel in the back but were used for more of a trolling motor application. What would be the biggest I would need for a Wellcraft 250 Sportsman?

I have a friend that I go out with that has the 9.9 HP kicker on his boat. He got it for safety and also it works great trolling for Kings. He takes his kids out where lines do tend to get tangled just everyonce in a while and its not nearly as big of a deal if it gets tangled in his kickers prop. It also slow trolls great and it is a good way for him to use the motor consistently so he knows it runs.
