Optiker is a good guy

I took my son out to Bushy Park this afternoon, telling him all about the fish I’d caught there and the stories I’d read here.

He was really pumped.

We pulled into the landing and right before us was Optiker.

I recognized him and walked up and introduced myself. He proceeded to give me several of the Trout-eye jigs and would not take any money for them.

We did not get time to try the jigs but will next time.

Caught a few fish, all released unharmed, and had a really good day.

Just wanted to thank and acknowledge Optiker for what he did for us.

I don’t think you’d find a better person.

Thanks Optiker! We owe you one! Bigt7mm and son.

Thanks I enjoyed meeting you and your son. We also had a good day. Just drifting with the tide and casting and picking up a trout here and there. Saw a bald eagle and a few osprey. To me, that’s about as good as it gets.

Yessir, I agree. Doesn’t get much better.

We also saw Bald Eagles, Pelicans, and one of the coolest birds ever, the Kingfisher.

Saw lots of fish but they weren’t biting.

Great day on the water with my son and got to meet a legend.

Thanks!

Moon???

And Optiker knows Santa ;). I know that for sure

Don’t let him fool y’all. For Op, “picking up a few fish here and there” translates to “we caught dozens of trout at every spot we tried”. Good job as usual.

I even got some in mine  Never met him, hope to soon, but he was kind enough to send me a nice sample pack. Beautiful jig heads, although so far I’ve only used then with mud minnows, they work great with minners!! I generally like meat and potatoes better than tofu for bait

I shoulda used the Trout- Eyes![:I]

For some reason they just weren’t biting that well. We tried all the usual tactics-trolling, casting, bottom-fishing, MM’s, etc.

It’s strange because we could see the fish everywhere. A week ago, same places, same techniques produced numerous spottails from 24-30"s for me and a friend.

I was just hoping for another day like that as it was my son’s first real fishing trip in my “new” boat and his first time fishing saltwater in a few years.

Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t get skunked and had a great time. It’s just sometimes you want one of “those” days. We’ll get back out in a couple weeks and I’ll get some pics up.

Opti and I have been fishing together for years and I can verify all of the comments above. As for the Trout Eyes, I have found they work really well with Gulp Jerk Shads, Zman Ralph Shads and Trout Tricks.

Thanks BOSN and CL.

Where can I find the Zman and TT’s?

I’m on call and have my grand-daughters this w/e, so I probably won’t get out until next w/e.

Can’t wait to try the new baits and hopefully the water temps stay up.

Got another message from the department of the redundency department…
Ran into Optiker sat out in Bushy! Stopped and talked for a few and had some good convo, he forced some gold Trout Eye jig heads on me(had to twist my arm and all!) and sent me on my way! The guy is for sure a stellar fella! Thanks again man and it was nice to meet you!
