I was out doing some scouting for some new fishing
areas and the motor was running great when it just
cut off— I tried to re-crank and the battery would
not crank it so I switched it with the trolling
motor battery and it would still not crank !!!
So I got home I recharged the battery and tried to
re-crank the engine when I found the starter stuck!!
I tapped it with a rubber mallet and it tried to
crank but the starter would only barely turn the
engine over:face_with_head_bandage: !!!
I checked the battery and it is good it is less
than a year old !!
Is their a better way to check the starter to
make sure that is my problem
Or could it be something else
Check ground and all hot connections to solenoid (relay)and starter , loose or corroded connections = high resistance…high resistance = low voltage… low voltage = dragging starter
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good… but I wanna see it.
Lights On!

use a set of jumper cables, and let them bypass the boat battery cables, and try it again.

Hey Chris – I tried the jumper
cables to the solenoid and the starter
is still draging!!!
Any other testing I could do:question:
Any info would be helpful!!
I also cleaned the connections
on the solenoid and the ones
on the starter
(even though they looked alright)!!
sounds like a bad starter.
you could try going straight to the starter, with the key off, just to see if it will spin up.

Chris I will try this when I get off work !!!
Do you have on in stock and how much am
I looking at or do I want to know
Or am I going to look like this
It is a 135 optimax !!
If the motor died while you where running, i doubt it is the starter. How tight is the motor when you turn the fly wheel by hand?
