Does anyone have experience with this trolling motor? I am looking to move away from MK due to the spot lock issues and board failures. Thoughts or options would be greatly appreciated.

My brother-in-law has one on a KW 1720. I’m pretty impressed so far the few times I’ve been out with him in his boat. The biggest drawback I see is that the remote doesn’t display the speed like my ipilot does. The anchor function does not hunt and drift nearly as bad as mine either.

Is there a reason they only make white saltwater trolling motors?

They dont.
Rhodan come in black, they also have a $250 LINE-X option.
New IPilot coming out that supposedly has more accurate spot lock. Downside is you have to install separate heading sensor… lame.
I’m ready for a gps guided trolling motor right now, but after seeing that a new Ipilot is about to hatch I was planning to wait for it later this fall. Can you share more details about this separate sensor and what is lame about it? Is it a separate piece of equipment that has to be installed on that boat?
I guess having to install a separate GPS sensor on any map unit to get better signal and a compass heading is pretty lame as well. If you want the basic technology, be happy with the standard package, if you want better, mount a separate sensor.
It’s just a white puck like a regular gps sensor that mounts flush to the deck. I am sure it could probably be mounted back at the console as well. Sounds like it is using the boat heading and the trolling motor head heading to gain quicker and more accurate corrections. Probably also helps predict future movements when the wind/tide swings a boat a certain direction. I haven’t had any issues with my spot lock precision, but its an older unit. I have heard people struggling with the newer units, and not getting 5’ accuracy. I would like the ability to jog in all directions 1’ at a time like you can on the motorguide. So that is a nice feature they added.
