Orvis access

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know the views of the orvis access package outfits. Im looking at upgrading alittle bit heh!.. Im looking at the 8wt 9ft access rod/reel/line combo. All opinions appreciated Thanks

would also love to hear about this one. Ive been looking at this set up and the clearwater setup as well.

Bueller?..
I have the clear water. It was my first rod, and I have landed my first fish on the fly with that one. I am by no means an expert, but I have learned to cast decent at best (and Im pretty excited about that). I dont have much other fly rod experience to base it on. I did find an old pfeuger 6wt. I resurected this old relic from china, and I can cast it pretty ok as well. Who knows how old the fly line is. haha

don’t know about the reel but the rod works just fine. I have a 9wt. Casts effortlessly. I had to slow down my casting stroke. But once I got the timing down it’ll throw some line.

I’m not a big fan of Orvis but my two favorite freshwater trout rods are my Clearwater IIs

I feel the same way, I don’t really like a lot of their stuff, but my 5 wt. clearwater II is awesome. I have a BBS III reel on it that I don’t like very much, but it gets the job done.

When I was at the angler I used them for class rods… good quality and they are more mid flex rods and easier for new casters to use. They are typical Orvis. Good quality and solid I just think they are a little too proud of them and it shows in their price tags…

If you want to upgrade look at the TFO Rods, they have a lifetime warranty and are solid rods and best of all they are affordable.
