has anyone fished or thrown one of these rods. Have an orvis gift card and was thinking of adding one to my arsenal. the 9wt. of course, I have read that it is a stronger rod than most people think and fishes more liek a 10 or 11 I was thinking It would make a good rod to take on trips and hopefully will be able to handle just about anything from reds, bones, maybe even albies or other smaller bluewater critters.
Also has anyone ever used the orvis spinning rods?? are they made by orvis or someone else??

Thanks Scotty that is what I thought…still thinking of getting the frequent flyer just to have a tiny stow rod for trips and just to have in the truck… as for the spinning rods im sure they are made by someone else and just stamped ORVIS on the side and marked up 70 bucks. I am for shore getting the TUFFLEYE Kit we need to get together and play with it make some better looking amputee crabs. haha I wanna hear how the new boat floats call me.

i have one, like it
definitely gets the job done, super small case
I have a FF 9’ 8 wt.,great rod for the money, you will not be disappointed. Mine has handled some huge Louisianna reds with no problem. The small size makes it perfect for airline travel and great for the truck.
