OT - Smallmouth

Can anyone recommend a smallmouth guide in Tenn or Virginia?

New River Outdoor Company in Pembroke, VA. I’ve fished with them several times over the last several years and have yet to be disappointed. Lodging, guides and fishing are top notch.

Bump

If you are familiar with riversmallies.com, you could inquire there. Lots of folks there from Va and Tenn. I’m sure someone could recommend a guide in that area.

Hell, we have an incredible smallmouth fishery right here in SC, especially up the Broad River. Check out… http://www.broadriversmallmouth.com/

Granted, the Broad river isn’t near as scenic as the New River and there’s less of a chance of encountering a Musky (we’ve caught Musky every time I’ve fished with NROC even though we weren’t targeting them) but the Broad has some bruiser smallies.

Bangstick, Shhhhhhhhh! Ain’t no smallies in that river.

Uh…right!!! What was I thinking??? Must be the new meds and the liquor chasers. Nothing to see here…move along.

This is my son with a 4lb smallie last year, and as far as scenery goes in my opinion the broad is one of the most scenic/wildlife enriched places in SC away from town anyeays

Never said the Broad wasn’t scenic. In fact it is, but when compared to one of the oldest rivers in the world nestled deep in the Appalachian mountains, the Broad comes up a little short compared to the New. If you’ve never been, you owe it to yourself to go.

Love the coloration on that smallie. Beautiful fish!

Oh yeah I’ve seen pictures of the new in the mountains and it is gorgeous but for S. Carolina to me it is one of the prettiest places we have, and the abundance of wildlife is unbelievable, I’ve seen 5 bald eagles at one time before. I know they’re not rare like they use to be but they are still awesome to see

What river is that behind the riverbanks zoo in Columbia, further down it joins another muddy looking river on google?

That would be the lower saluda below the zoo. It meets the broad river in downtown Columbia and makes the congaree that flows to santee

What Watrboyo1 said.

I don’t know why, but I’ve never caught any smallies up the Saluda that far (around the zoo or further up). I’ve caught them down near the convergence but not above there.
