little late reporting…we cleared the Jettys just after 4 and had a smooth ride to GTH running about 35mph. picked up 2 little blackifin early and had 2 cut offs after that and then another blackfin and a skipjack all in the same area about 160’ on the north side of the hole, all before 8 am. then it slowed down for a while and we only managed a little peanut dolphin. Didin’t seem like much else was happening, so we did a high speed troll to SWB, where we found a slick with cuban pollen that looked like weeds and oil from a distance. picked up 2 more dolphin and just before we packed up to run in a 34# wahoo joined us in the boat. Ran in and tried some random spots for bottom drops, only managed a 20ish # king. Ride in was nice at about 35-40 in a light chop. Was pleased to have only burned 104 gallons. Fish and boat cleaned and home before dark.
Nice job! Did you get to put any in the boat with the new reels?

I only brought 2 and all the knockdowns were on the 50Wgold Okuma’s and the ever faithful TLD’s and oh yeah my buddies circa 1979 6/0 Penn Senator combo we were running a planer on landed the Hoo. I kept moving them around in the sread trying to break them in, but to no avail. I’ll keep trying… You still want those rods?
The old meat stick has been responsible for many a bloody cockpit, but it may be nearing its time.
I believe we were in that same slick last weekend off of Jacksonville…from a distance we thought we had found the mother of all weed lines…
If the fish won’t bite, strap on a tank go down and make em!
