Otherside of the Stream Early X-Mas

So I figure I would put it out there. Just got back from the great beyond and several days of some mixed up seas, but myself and the other boats had a nice run of YELLOWFIN TUNA. Overall not that many fish were caught but it was consistant across the board.

Look for the mixing water and the ‘lock tide’ east of the Georgetown Hole…hint hint…if you plan to attempt a trip…

And the swordfish are colored nicely…

how many miles u offshore and biggest yellow fin caught thanks

with out pictures…

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

did he say YELLOWFIN TUNA,op! yeup! there i need a knapkin, sorry!!

I was on the otherside of the stream…pretty far out!!! As far as the sizes the fish where in the 35+ range. One boat had a 55…

And yes…there are no pictures for several reasons

1…I don’t want organizations or government agencies using photographs of me, without my permission, to take away more of my rights to harvesting.

2…There is not that much picture time when you are working at sea, it is not like none of you haven’t seen a YFT.

3…If I do take pictures, they end up on Facebook.

At least, I did share the information that they are out there/ were out there.

Thanks for the report. Good job on the yft’s. I have forgotten what they look like.

Good Call D and G.

Armchair fishermen live vicariously thorough the photographs on this forum. They depend on you. I’ll help them out this time…

Like over 120 miles offshore?

Thanks for the picture it really helps.

DandG, what would it take to get some solid yellowfin intel that is less than 24 hours old? Thinking a call from a sat phone??

Ya D and G. That’s the least you can do is tell us how far out you were…ha ha…

Dang, sounds like DandG just needs to go ahead drive yall out there…

Makes you wonder how anybody caught fish before the internet.

Yes…a sat phone would be the ticket, yet everything goes back to the old adage of “picking your days”. I say this not to seem vanilla, but if you have SST chart subscriptions and a general knowledge of what to look for. I am sure you can decipher out what makes fishy water. You can never replace being out and observing it yourself.

The stream moves, currents run differently during different phases of the moon, and then you have the enviromental factors (pressure, fronts, rain, and so forth). It can be 80 miles one day and 100 miles the next.

It is from my understanding, that the most complex “fish targeting” programs have huge variability when it comes to off of SC, but I will say that 50% of the time, they are right at you catching something in a specific area, just not exactly what they predict.

Just rememeber:

Can I get the numbers to “Other Side of the Stream”? I can’t seem to find it on my Mapsunique! Sounds like a great spot.

Sure you can, I keep all those numbers in a coffee can and you can pick one for $50.00, but it is the bait that really makes the fish hop into the boat. I have plenty of that at $100.00 a box.

For you skinnee, I will give it half price for the holidays and throw in some wreckfish numbers you guys can dive on.
