Outboard lubrication

I hate to ask a dumb question but how do the crankshaft bearings in a 2 stroke outboard motor get lubrication?

39 views and no answers, you guys dont know either huh?

I dont think it can be pulling oil from the foot, thats 90 wt gear oil and I cant figure out how the oil mixed in the gas lubes the crankshaft bearings so its a mystery to me.

I’m no engine expert but my explanation would be that the crankshaft is in there with it. The gas/oil mixture is drawn into the lower part of engine with crankshaft during the up stroke, it pushes above the cylinder through a transfer port on the downstroke and then fires at the top of the upstroke to start over. Not sure if this picture will post. Just Google it.

Mystery solved! Thanks DownLow!

EFI and DFI 2 strokes are oil injected meaning the oil is metered by a step motor driven pump and fed directly to the bearings.

its like the picture above, expect the intake is on the opposite end that the cylinder is on. the fuel oil mix goes thru the crankcase, basically covering everything with oil. Generally only the DFI engines get direct oiling, and only to the main bearings, all the other bearings are splash oiled.
