outboard motor lube

I was wonder if anyone new weather or not it is a good idea to use an oil based lube of some sort and spay down the motor periodicly for added protection against corrosion. And if so do you have any suggestions as to what to use.

CRC 80 I think it is, I give most the motor a light spray a few times a year or so. Has kept my 17yo Merc 115hp looking like new.

CRC is a decent product, but Boeshield is a non oilly protectant that holds up much better in the marine environment

CRC 6-56 is what we use
boeshield t-9 is also an excellent product, its just much more expensive
