Outdoor Fireplace

A few weeks ago I posted a request on the swap shop looking for a piece of 8" steel pipe Sch-40 to use for a chimney for a outdoor firepit I was building. Thanks to Asaltweaponone (Gordon) for finding me a piece. A few of you expressed interest in the project and wanted to see it once I got it complete, so here it is. Other than a little clean-up and a few details, it is done.

Good job,a lot better than any store bought one.

Man, that’s neat, should keep your boat warm!

Is that an air tank? Looks really nice, I’ve thought about building the exact same thing. Any grate in the bottom? Guessing not since that would make clean-out more difficult.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

It’s a 250# upright propane tank. I put a couple of bags of lava rock in the bottom and then added a fireplace grate. I wanted to keep the fire off the bottom so it doesn’t get too hot. The final resting place will be on a concrete slab
