I’ve heard of people using weedeater line for the halyard line on their outriggers, but I have a few questions before I try trimmer line.
Is there a specific type you use?
Do you tie in your clips or do you use crimps and what size?
Ceramic rings or pulleys off the shock/tensioner cord?
Is heavy mono a better solution?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I use the 400# mono outrigger line from Haddrells. I have had no problems with it so far, and I have used it the last few years. The only time that it will creep, is when some weed gets on my lures. Other than that, no creep. Also, I use pulleys.
As with anything, it is personal preference. You will likely get plenty of different answers…

Yeah, I use the pulleys and currently the rope but the rope doesn’t pull through that smoothly, that’s why I was asking about the weed eater line, someone told me it was the best system they had used so far. I just wanted to know if anyone else out there has experience with this method.

Get the mono from Haddrells or other local store. I think that 2.3mm is the proper crimp size. Makes it easy to adjust length of line as it will stay somewhat tight in the crimp, prior to crimping. I think 100 yds of 400# mono is like 16 bucks.

I set mine up a few weeks ago. Blue WW line on the longs, green WW line on the shorts. Ceramic rings- and they creap a bit, I will get the hal-locks for sure. My line diameters are not the same, one about .9 and the other thinner, about .7. This was not by choice, more b/c I wanted different colors and that is what Lowe’s had. It helps a bit being able to qickly differentiate your spread by color, espcially with folks new to fishing riggers. Crimp everything. Keep in mind we don’t really even have a tackle shop here in HH anymore, so I went with what I had access to.
1.the moi moi 400lb mono
2. Hal lock pulley
3. Nok Out by Rupp
I think this will be the best way to go. Also been contemplating this set up. www.flatrig.com
good luck

I use the Rupps also. When they are new, the adjustment screws/bolts can back out and drop into the blue. I used a little teflon tape on them to prevent that. After a few trips, the salt will stiffen them up a bit.
That worked for me…
