What is the best way to put holes in a soft top to mount outriggers?
If you already have mounting holes in the aluminum plate or tube on your top, take an old phillips screwdriver and heat it to red hot with a propane torch. Then just burn through the canvas using the existing holes as a guide. Reheat the screwdriver as needed. The hot screwdriver will melt the fabric and there won’t be any fraying.

I used a soldering iron in the way Bob suggests the screwdriver. Works perfectly.
