Outriggers

I recommended the carbon fiber which I have never broken. As for the 18's, I'm the only one that I know who has broken them, so I figure he won't put them under the same load as me. They will work okay for 99% of the peoples...

Again, carbon fiber is the way to go. I’ll never purchase aluminum outriggers again, but if budget won’t allow carbon, then I would still pick the 18’s over the 15’s.

Check with Essenbay in Summerville for your outriggers and rigging. I picked up a rigging kit today…much better price than normal retail. They and Taco are sharing the same warehouse. They sell on ebay, you can find them on Facebook. They’ll sell to the public

Great advice from Skinny. Before you commit to aluminum, contact Wes(Phin) and see what he can do for you with the carbon fiber. I love mine on my smaller Pioneer 197! Customer service, quality, and weight offset the cost for me! Really, give Wes @ Marsh Tacky a call.

Got2Go - sent you a PM. Interested in seeing pics of the setup on the 197SF

After much debate and discussion with Wes over at Marsh Tacky, I decided to go with a set of the QuickDraw 17’ Poles. Wes is a plethora of knowledge and a stand up guy that will make recommendations to you with real world knowledge and an unbiased opinion. After receiving the poles this week I was blown away by the quality and attention to detail with these poles. The are extremely well built and super lightweight. Got them installed and rigged in my new 280 bases today and am super excited  for a good weather day to go and put them through their paces. I have no doubt in my mind that these poles will stand the test of time and deliver plenty of Photos for the memory book and fish in the box. Working with Wes through the decision process was an awesome experience and I would encourage anyone looking for outriggers to give Wes a call or shoot him a message on here (he is Phin on CF). I am thankful to have this forum and the people that pointed me in the right direction to hook up with Wes to make this decision easy. Thank you Wes for all of your help!

Did you need any extra parts to mount the GS280 to your top. I have a TW252 that I am adding outriggers onto.

Only added parts were 2” 5/16 stainless bolts. The ones that come with the kit are not near long enough to go through the bracket, top and outrigger base. Spent about 15 bucks at Lowe’s and bought the bolts and nylon washers for the underside of the mount so that there is no contact with the bolt and the bracket.
