Going to be buying some soon, I am planning to have telescopic poles, but can’t deside on bases. What are y’all’s opinions? Taco, Rupp, Lee. What do you have, what do you love, what do you hate?
Have had taco and Top Gun. Both did well but had to grease the Top Gun annually.
Check out the Marsh Tacky bases and riggers.
I currently have the Taco 280 Bases and the Marsh Tacky Quickdraw Retractable poles. I highly recommend taking a look at the Marsh Tacky poles, they are locally made and their build quality is superb. Wes can answer any questions you might have completely unbiased about fishing with outriggers. I could not be happier with mine. Look him up on the sire his handle is Phin.

X3 on Marsh Tacky retractables! Talk with Wes before you buy anything. If nothing else, the free consultation will ensure what products you buy, whether his or another’s, will fit your need exactly. Really, give Wes a shout before committing on something.
Also, check with Dennis at Essenbay Marine for outrigger bases. He’s located in Summerville.
I appreciate the advice
You might take a look at the Gemlux bases and retractables. They are pricey but very well made. I have them and have been very pleased but because of the crap weather, very little use so far. I have high speed trolled off of them with a tag line and they claim you can pull a dredge with them as well. They deploy without climbing up on the gunwale which is nice since its me who is the one climbing up there.
For what its worth , I have Marsh Tacky retractables on Zrupp 30 bases on my other boat. Ive been very happy with those but gemlux is an all new ball game.
