Over slot reds and a needle nose gar @ Bushy!

Got another late start with big water in the creeks yesterday afternoon…finally found some mulls and off I went fishing…things were slow until the last hour of light…got a few fattys in the boat…one was a Bushy personal best at 29 1/4 which I had to measure at home from a mark I made bc my ruler isnt long enough any more! All over slot(just how i like em)and released…even the gar…

Gar are misunderstood.

Kind of interesting how you measure them in the net. Not by any stretch saying you shouldn’t, but I’m curious why. To control them better?

Gar might be misunderstood but there’s no mistaking the teeth. They are not viscous biters, but I am a klutz and have more than once ripped a finger on a gar snout. Learned my lesson. Now when I catch a gar, I spit beech-nut in it’s eye and shoot it with my ol’ 45.

I measured them in the net cause I only have 2 hands and didn’t want em flopping out on me everyone of these seemed to be extra excited too LOL
