Overnight weekend

Great crew with Cam Kreps, Chad Plott and Scott Bozeman and 12 year-old son, Johnny. Rolled out of Dewees at 10:15. Trolled the ledge to no avail from noon until 2. Dropped lines in a spot in 250 feet and first sail for 'lil Johnny as he did an awesome job angling with an incredible acrobatic sail. Perfect fight - backed down on him with twin 300’s, got him boatside and snapped some pics. Ran out to 550 feet and missed two sails while rigging squid. Set up in ZERO current and had no strikes for six hours except for landing two nice sized sharks - one hammerhead. Moved to right on top of 226 hole. Within 20 minutes went one for two on swordies. At sunrise went to 55o feet and hooked up a white for my first grand slam off SC, but pulled the hook within a few seconds. Went back to the ledge and fought a nice wahoo until he bit through our wire leader. Congrats to the boats and capts. who crushed the fish. Sure was comforting fishing in the dark with other boats.

Capt. Mel

Congrats on all the stick fish. I thought a grand slam had to have a blue marlin in the mix…

He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.

you only have to have 3 different species. they can be whatever

Pioneer 220 Baysport
Yamaha F250

I feel better now for pulling him off!

Capt. Mel

Grady, where is that Bertram of yours these days?

Good going on your day.
Please e-mail me at fbg@comcast.net

If Johnny Bozeman is a member of the SCSSA, I have something that belongs to him.

Thanks.

Capt Mel, Great Job. It’s always a treat to take a youngster out and put them on a trophy fish, besides you had great luck/skill with the rest of the charter!

Along with zero current. What a night! Let’s hope for warmer water and some bait. Hopefully the wheather will cooperate next week. Tight Line.

Capt Kevin.

Looks like this Saturday night will be as calm as last weekend. Thanks for the trip- it was great to see Johnny’s excitement about his first sailfish. No doubt its the first of many more for Johnny.
That Contender really likes billfish…and a good marinated steak.
