Looked a little chippity choppity while surf fishing this evening

Beautiful evening and even better Saturday. No issues had weather wise. Was very bumpy Friday evening but nothing unsafe. Just going 25mph vs 40mph

Glad to hear it. How about the fish?

If everybody came home, nobody got hurt and the boat didn’t break it’s a good trip. If you catch a few fish it’s a great trip:smiley:

It didn’t come without its flaws. Anchor light snapped on way out, plow anchor shaft bent in half at 10pm, VHF antenna was left up to tow home and it came home snapped in half. Good news is, VHF antenna needed a better one anyways, bad news is, anything on top of the t-top I will forget again and break. Before I make any offshore trip I have a long list I check off before leaving the house in Lexington. It’s time to make another for before leaving the boat ramp. On the question about the fish, bottom was more fruitful than the top to us but we definitely came home with quality over quantity and plenty of meat for 4 people.

Sheet, that’s minor stuff:smiley: I drove off from the ramp last year with the antennas up and 4 rods in the T-top holders. Didn’t have any when I got home[:I] That Chechessee bridge by the ramp has low clearance!

Experience teaches you to recognize a mistake, right after you’ve made it again. This I’ve learned well  But it takes some mistakes to gain the experience. Lights and antennas are cheap. Probably less than the fuel you burned on the trip. If you caught some fish too, it was a good trip.

Dang! That must have sounded like an airstrike when you hit the bridge

It did! It was ugly. $1,000 worth of ugly!

A couple of years ago I went under a low bridge in Boca Grande. I thought it was high enough. It wasn’t. Same results. 2 antennas and 6 rods. Made a lot of noise. Like I said, experience teaches me to recognize mistakes right after I’ve made them again:face_with_head_bandage:

Not as bad as the guy I watched drive through a McDonalds take out window with a T-top though. He took out his entire T-top, plus the drive through canopy:smiley:

Hate that for you Larry but, it makes guys like me feel better when they see even Old Salts like you do it sometimes.
