Looking to work abroad,as in anywhere. My expertise were working water resource management:lakes, ponds, canals, etc. Mostly working with erosion control, water runoff filtration, water chemistry, invasive nuisance control via aquatic. I know this is not a sought after field but just letting you know my background. I do have knowledge, little, in many things such as handyman stuff, all terrain vehicle knowledge, airboat and 6x6 experience, etc…If anyone has any connections to overseas govt. contractors, or anything I can get involved with in relation to above any help would be appreciated. Trying again here for anyone with some connections. Thanks again
Not quite out of the country, but almost the next best thing. You might want to look into the oil fields in N. Dakota! With your background you would probably have no problem getting a Big $$$$$ job. From what I’ve heard they are paying truck drivers 80+K. If your heart is set on overseas work, I’D be looking at a Government Contractors, like Halliburton! http://www.halliburton.com/en-US/careers/halliburton-jobs.page?node-id=hgeyxtbd
Easy, you forgot to mention about any Job in N.D. Make sure it is only from June to August with plenty of bug repellent . Other than that N.D. is Hell on Earth.
I’d choose back overseas to N.D. again.
On the truck driver jobs, 80K can be had right here with the right experience and willingness to be away from home a bit. With all the new insurance regs on CDL holders, a driver with a clean record and 10 years experience driving has a job with pretty much any trucking company. Lot’s of company’s looking for 35-40 + year olds for maturity level and weeding out the 60+ drivers. They won’t advertise that as it would be discrimination, but it is a factor.
Problem with ND besides the horrible weather there is no housing. BRK was the big contractor in the ME there are probably hundreds of subs working for them.
Thanks for the great opportunity foreseen in ND…its an option of course, anyone have any suggestions besides Halliburton?

Lot’s of quonset huts!! But don’t count on them during harvest season. NO VACANCY…senor / senorita.
Brown Root Kellogg is not Halliburton they are one of the largest contractors in the world. Skanska is another huge one along with the Chunnel Group. Bechtel works all over the US and overseas.
Thanks for the help, that will give me lots to look at.
You can check out the civilian expeditionary workforce.
The CEW used to be another tool to allow you to deploy overseas. I work for DOD and have deployed to Afghanistan twice. The last time was through CEW. Unlike the first time (when I deployed through my DOD organization), deploying through CEW had many advantages. You still got all the bonuses, but got more OT. I worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for 13 months straight. I think the CEW program is no longer a source for this type of employment. I beleive you have to go to USA Jobs or maybe through Ft. Belvoir. I would also check with the large construction companies, as well as FEDEX, UPS, etc. They all have a huge presence over there…remember everything has to be moved in and out, mostly by plane.

Have you thought about working on a crew boat or cargo liner?

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
I’ve spent over 10 years working abroad with an American-HQ’d global company that transferred me within our organization.
There are lots of NGO’s and aid type organizations that are doing agricultural work in various places. Your main specialization might fit in. The money might not be that great.
Keep in mind that, when working outside the US for an entire calendar year (you can come back for a 12 day holiday or something like that) you are essentially US income tax free.
Consider Dubai - there is no income tax there. So, if you make 100K there you really make 100K.
“You have the right to the pursuit of happiness. You do not have a guarantee that you shall have it.”
Only consider Dubai if the contractor supplies housing.
Feel free to ask me any questions. I’ll be glad to help out where I can.
In addition to saic, I would look at Ratheon, Mantech, Imagine-One, Skylla Engineering, Engility, BAE, Honeywell, SRC. Just to name a few. These are all DOD contractors with work here in Charleston, but would be a great starting point for overseas work.
I’ve been doing this for 13 years and can probably shorten the learning curve or at least steer you in the right direction. There are some great jobs available, but there are some to be cautious about too. Do your homework.
