i have a yama 25 2 stroke and it pulls to the right something serious…it didnt have a trim tab on the foot so i ordered one and installed it and that didnt help at all…so i noticed my prop is larger then most i see on 25’s and i was wonder if that could be the reason?! im pretty sure my dad put this prop on before he died and i got the boat prolly for speed cause the thing runs 29 mph loaded w 2 people via handhelp gps…should i just deal w it and not worry or what? lil help here
Did you adjust the trim tab when you installed it? It should be angled about 30 degrees to the starboard side. Move it in the direction the boat pulls. You should be able to get most of the pull out. A little bit is normal, it’s caused by prop torque. The size of the prop shouldn’t matter much, unless it’s huge.

yes Larry i did a few trial runs with the tab in every possible position…no position made even the slightest diff that i could tell…the boat is a flat bottom fiberglass hull with a few ribs running down it and while planed out its just skimming across the top of the water and nothing is in the water but the foot and prop…could this be damaging anything or just a mild inconvienence?
i looked on boats.net and the have like 15 diff props sizes and pitch combonations that will work on my motor so i will look for model numbers like boatpoor suggested and try to cross refference it…sounds good but donno what good it will do me lol
correct me if i’m wrong but assuming that is typical right hand prop, if veering off due to prop walk, wouldn’t it steer to the left instead of to the right? If so it sounds like something other than prop walk.
I wouldn’t know that’s why im asking you guys lol…here’s what I found maybe yall can help me read it too… looks like; 9 7/8 x 11 1/4 with a funny looking F or plus sign…
As the engine trim or height is increased with a RH prop, the engine and boat will pull to the right. The opposite is true when the engine trim or height is lowered.
Sounds like the engine is mounted too high which would also explain why the trim tab did not have an affect. Try lowering the engine if possible. Pics of the mounting and the whole transom of the rig would be helpful.
prop is in terrible condition and needs to be replaced or reworked.
motor isnt mounted to high, if the first picture is your normal running angle, i would trim up at least 1 hole.
that is also what we call a pontoon style prop and due to the extra surface area, it will cause the motor to pull.
it is definately unsafe to have it pull hard.
`Well when I trim up one hole it’ll purpose *(dolphin)… and at 3/4 throttle feels like it’s almost out of the water…guess I should just go see that fella Skip bout a prop
thats because the motor is mounted to low on the transom
unbolt it and raise it up at least 1 inch
it will stop bouncing, run faster and be easier to steer
