Hey everybody, I was fortunate enough the ride on the Overspray this past weekend and got some great shots from Friday & Saturday that I think are worth sharing. We had two good days of fishing, released a blue each day and put 3 dolphin in the box. The first big fish was about 105", but the Capt. estimated she was well north of 400 lbs. The second was a bit smaller, but still a nice looking fish. Hope you enjoy…
First blue - Friday 9:00, 1 hour fight.

Got lucky–caught her right as she came out of the water. Too bad Tindal wasn’t wearing an “Overspray” shirt…

Nice Dolphin…

Second Blue - Saturday, about lunchtime, 15 minute fight.

Nice fish, I thought all the billfish tourney’s had to use circle hooks this year? Can anyone set me straight, used with bait only?
Dark Star
Circle hooks are required for bait and bait/artificial combos, but you can still use j-hooks with artificials. (I had to do some reading to get the particulars striaght myself).
This is a pretty helpful link…

Nice pics. Great job!
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles.

Good Question. I’m not entirely sure (as my navigational awarness is almost as bad as my angling skills). Friday we headed practically due south into “the middle of nowhere” according to Cappy (first fish), and to the best of my recollection Saturday we caught the second fish in about 1200 feet of water, around the explosive dump at the GTH.
