Oxidation on Rims

How do you clean/remove/polish oxidation on aluminum rims? One suggestion is Bar Keepers Friend, which does work wonders in the kitchen.

Not sure about removing oxidation but I have seen this stuff that is supposed to protect aluminum.

I follow the link below for maintenance on my boat it is primarily geared toward flats boats but is a good reference. I use a 2 gallon pump up sprayer to coat the trailer after fishing.

As far as removing the oxidation… Mothers brand polish, sold at most auto stores, is probably the best I’ve ever used.

A lot of the cheaper aluminum trailer wheels have a clear plastic like film that saltwater gets behind and makes them look like crap. On those type of wheels there isn’t much you can do other than replace them. Those aluminum wheels look good but I went back to galvanized for easy cleaning and the trailer doesn’t float nearly as bad as with aluminum wheels.

Buy some new wheels . I know you don’t want to hear that but by the time you waste hours cleaning and polishing you will wish you had just purchased new ones .
