Well some Ahole in a center console washed me up in to a oyster bed saturday. And I believe ive cut a hole in the bottom of my kayak. How do I fix it?
How bad is the cut?
Look up the information for your brand of kayak, and see if they provide info for plastic welding their kayaks - some manufacturers will send you scrap plastic to use to weld holes, etc. Worst case scenario you can scrape some from a hatch opening or something to use as filler…
Cuts are pretty easy to weld if there is not a huge gap to fill - if it is a clean cut, you could probably fill it with a little scraping of plastic off another spot from your kayak, and a lighter to melt it, with a flat-head screwdriver to blend & smooth it…take your time and be careful with applying heat and you should make a good repair.
thanks its more of a gash. 2 inch by 2 inch.
plastic welding isn’t hard to do. you can do small jobs with a lighter and butter knife. Bigger jobs a soldering iron works better. Bigger still a heat gun with a small nozzle to keep the heat in a small area.
Not confident in doing it yourself, give Time Out Sports a call

Google it on youtube,
but the advice for Time Out Sports is outstanding.
They are pros.
Someone told me about water wield. Its made by jb wield cures in a hour wet or dry. hard as a rock work great.
Per their website, JB Weld WaterWeld does not bond to polyethylene or polypropylene.
They have a product called PlasticBonder for polypropylene and polyethylene.
I saw a plastic welder at Harbor Freight. Don’t know anything about it but it may be worth checking out. I’d go with Time Out Sports, they know what they’re doing.
