It has been a long time since I have cooked oysters for a large group, I am having a party with about 80 guest, how many bushels would be enough, and also and any idea of a good place to get them would be great? I would rather have selects but clusters will work. Thanks for any help
About 7-8 bushels would be a guess, because it depends on how many guests eat numerous oysters. As for a place, we normally order oyster select singles from Apalachicola. Nice sized oysters that are rather fresh. Hope that helps.

not sure but dont know that 7-8 bushels would be enough for “80” people…I can eat 1/2 bushel myself:stuck_out_tongue:…we usually figure 3-5 people per bushel of oysters and thats if they are really serious eaters!!!..it also depends on what else you serve…hot dogs, chili, chowder etc… but we tend to over estimate and figure 3-4 per…contact “sellsfish” on this site or check with crosbys(@ folly, cross town or cherry hill lane off of spruil) or carolina seafood in mcclellanville////some the others here may know more ////
