Hey all, i’ve already made several trips out to get the beautiful SC oysters here in Charleston for steaming and eating but i am looking to change it up. i have always steamed them and i will always do that for sure but i would love to try and bake/grill some oysters. i know theres a thousand online recipes but i wanted to here the local recipes if yall ever cook em different than steaming and what toppings yall will put on those bake/grilled oysters. Thanks in advance, yall take it easy!
Get a dozen large and shuck them leaving on the halve shell. Fry up some bacon crispy and crumble it. Put it on the oyster along with a dash of old bay, Parmesan cheese, a pat of real butter, and a drop or two of lemon juice… maybe a little parsely. broil until cheese gets a little bubbly or put on the grill.
Dang I got to go get me some!
Good God that sounds amazing! After work tomorrow if the tides are right, i’m going out to get some and ill definitely try your recipe! i’m just ready for it to get real cold and then i’ll feel confident about eating some raw oysters while i’m out picking!
F/V Tinny will live forever
shuck on the half shell (keep the liquor too), lay on grate and add a drop of oil to each, smoke at 225 for about 30-45 or till the juice is gone.
no need for other ingredients… but crackers, cream cheese, hot sauce and a beer won’t hurt
New Orleans grilled oyster
Oyster half shell, butter lemon parmesan cheese and grill till they get a little burnt
Nice to hear someone else eating em fresh of the bed! Been a bit but I’ve got a honey hole off the broad that gets land locked at low. I’d always carry some soda crackers and hot sause and enjoy eating oysters as much if not more than catching fish waiting for the tide to come back in.
Dad started me off when i was a small kid in Florida. Mom gave him heck, saying he was gonna give me some kind of disease Guess I’ve been lucky.
Got plenty of wood for a bon fire, now for it to get a little cooler for a good oyster roast.
