Oysters open now?

The SCDNR site is very contradictory. Are the public oyster grounds at Folly open this week? I wanted to pickup a half bushel for this weekend if they are.

Not 100% sure, but last week I saw a bunch of people picking in / around the Folly River area. My guess would be yes

Check the DHEC site as well on local openings and closings of oyster beds.

YES…all State and Public grounds around folly are open

206, 194, 186, 205…please mind the signs, and stay off any marked with a “C”, like C-199. These are leased areas, and you are technically stealing if you pick from there, and can result in large fines

Alright thanks everyone. My weekend plans are falling into place. Oyster roast on Saturday followed by a grouper cookout on Sunday. Charleston is awesome.

I was opening a few oysters for bait last weekend and I noticed they are fattening real good - - early. Enjoy, everybody!

Where can I find a map of the public beds? My wife would love me bring a few clusters home.

Found the maps. Just to make sure that I don’t break the law, any beds marked S or R are open to the public is that correct?

correcto.
