Paddle Length

I have a 12’ solo canoe and would prefer to use a kayak paddle instead of a single blade. I’m very confused as to what length I should buy. Much to my surprise, those paddles don’t come cheap!!!

You can get a cheap paddle, but I advise folks to buy the best/lightest paddle they can afford.
Get a paddle sized to you instead of to your boat unless it’s unusually wide. I’m 6"1" with long arms and I use a 230 cm paddle. Dave at Time Out can fit you properly.

search Too Busy’s Tech Tips on youtube. I did a video on fitting a paddle

My canoe is about 32" wide. I just don’t want to paddle at too steep of an angle.

A 240 length should do just fine for you. Check out the Werner Skagit, you can not find a better paddle for the money!

I am 6’ and I prefer a 240 length paddle. I have even looked into getting something larger but then I remembered I pedal.

I’m curious about why you wouldn’t want to high angle paddle? I get that it’s a canoe and paddle drip could be an issue, but high angle is just so much more efficient.

Carter - your bass boat is almost 4 feet wide. You couldn’t reach the water with a 230
