Left the dock at 12:30 pm. Ran fast to the GT hole. Sky was overcast when we arrived just north of the hole. Water spot was over some of our numbers.
Five minutes in and the way way back gets hit - peels off line! Its on, again! Expecting a HOO as that was where we hit them last week, we were pleasantly surprised for our first blackfin of the year!
A few minutes later and the daisy chain with white squid gets hit - smaller blackfin.
The sun started shining, the seas flattened and the bite DIED. Nada.
Trolled to the hole, over the ledge, and back to our original spots. Nada.
At 5 pm, the tuna started breaking the surface. We raced to the last seen spots, and NADA.
Left the blue water at 6pm, home at 7:10pm - flat seas, ran just under 60 mph.
Only two tuna, no short strikes - much different bite from last week for us.
The bright points - worked a full day before noon, went fishing, caught fish, avoided being sucked up into a water spout, and was home in time for dinner and with dinner! All done in MARCH! We must be working on our meatfish slam one week at a time - I predict mahi next week!
Tight lines,
Jason
