Rare sunday pass from the Admiral -
We heard great reports of flat seas on Saturday, despite the poor weather reports. We checked the edisto buoy weather, and decided to run to the Georgetown Hole.
Excited about ‘threading the needle’ between storm clouds, we made the trip at 40 + mph.
Lines in, several short strikes, we fought a peanut mahi, and then lightening - real lightening - not a dramatic pause. We picked up and ran 22 miles north to the Scarp (thinking we could fish for a while before the storm made it to our new location).
We fished for about 30 minutes, several short strikes, and - lightening - that same storm cell was growing faster and larger.
Lines in, box empty, we ran back towards land. Seeing a hole in the storm cells, we ran to the Parking Lot, and bottom fished for the Black Sea Bass.
We reached our five man limit and one keeper grouper in no time. Flew home between the raindrops!
Great day on the water with great friends and my son. I blackened the sea bass and served it with water mellon while the boat was being cleaned and the rods put away.
I guess we should stick to the Tuesday afternoons?
Tight lines,
Jason
